Paul Frank showed little clothes, but a lot of heart at the BBB 2010. This charming lady called Fanny led us through, what was one of the most creative booths on the fair. Take a look with us.

He was one of the people who re-invented denim in 1967 with the stone wash and, later, with geometrical patterning: Francois Girbaud. After being a hype in the late eighties and early nineties his label is still around. Now, Marithe + Francois Girbaud is being re-invented for the next millennium. It’s about back to basics in combination with solid tailoring AND a new, by Girbaud patented, technology: Watt Wash. It’s a look generated by laser, which needs only 3% of the water being used for regular denim washing (obviously you knew denim is one of the most polluting textiles in the world). Definitely interesting and we’re curious where this will lead denim in the future. The old master talked with CODE about his latest innovation.

Scotch & Soda is definitely a label to watch. Half a year ago they hired Alex Jaspers (previous Blue Blood sales director) to upstart their denim line. He had a ball. Alex is, amongst others, responsible for the new and hot (high end) sub-label Amsterdams Blauw (Amsterdam Blue) which will be available in Spring 2011. Let him take you around. His enthusiasm is infectious. We loved the loosely woven chambray-style denims.

English label Brooks got well known for its bicycle saddles. Not the most sexy product in our league, but since these are the times where re-inventing yourself is the name of the game, Brooks plays the game along really well and brings their leather craftsmanship to a well designed line of bags. Some are sweet and high end takes on the messenger archetype, others are downright urban sleek leather goods. We like it, so we made a short video at Bread and Butter to present their history and future in a nutshell.
