Amsterdam Designers (26.07.2011) ::
Few designers are willing to face reality, boasting that they’ll be the next haute couture house. They’ll rule the world. They’ll have stores in SoHo, Tokyo and Paris. Even fewer acknowledge their line for exactly what it is, though it has the look and style of contemporary high end lines. Enter Patrick Mohr, an eccentric designer making edgy clothing at affordable prices, and he’s A.O.K. with that.
Mohr has worked his way up the fashion latter, originally a designer for Henrik Vibskov, Mohr branched out and created his own line and has since caught the attention of fashionistas and media alike with his unique vision and outlandish runway shows. Patrick debuted his first collection in 2008 at the Amsterdam Denim Awards, organized by CODE. It was the 2010 Berlin Fashion Show that truly made waves, when he dressed his models (male and female) in a bald cap, sporting a gray beard.
Patrick’s latest SS 2012 collection features the latest in goth chic. Draping tanks for men and women. Printed leggings that catch the eye, but set apart. Deep black, midnight blue, earth grey and anthracite up to snow white, the type of look Alex Proyas might have styled one of his earlier flicks with. Stand outs in the collection include a sleek black dress that mixes class and seduction.

A gray bomber, that seems light enough for a night on the town, and durable enough for a late late night graffiti sesh.
The big bang for your buck comes when you check the price tag. His pieces mostly run between 40 euros and 100 euros, despite their upper echelon quality. Match that up to contending designers like Rick Owens and Alexander Wang and you’ll see you don’t need brand name recognition to have a great brand.
