Early June Swatch introduced their newest collaboration in downtown London. CODE met up briefly with Carri Munden, aka Cassette Playa, and considering the circumstances -she was not just launching her watch, but had co-organized the whole event- she was remarkably well composed. Maybe, because we were on Cassette Playa ground, noticeable in the dark dungeon-like-basement as choice of location and in the digital playground installations, which teased even the most business-oriented press sharks into curious cats. It seems, as if the edgy menswear brands in the Netherlands are currently ruled by female designers (the head designer menswear at Denham is a woman, same goes for G-Star, just to name a few). Originally from Russia, Liza Koifman teamed up with Tomas Overtoom to start a brand specialized in side walk tailoring, called Ontfront. Creating a tough, yet polished, look Ontfront is thus no exception to this new trend. Their new collection oozes the glam of fast cars but still remains true to its street style origin.
